Dolly the Sheep
Dolly was a Scottish female sheep and was the first mammal successfully cloned from an adult cell. She was cloned by Ian Wilmut and his colleagues at the Roslin Institute in UK by using the technique of somatic cell nuclear transfer. This domestic sheep was born in Edinburgh on July 5, 1996 and was euthanized because of progressive lung disease on 14 February 2003.
